Open Days

An advertised open day occurs in 2nd term.  An advertised information evening is held in early 3rd term.  Local visits are encouraged and invited by the local Kindergarten.

Visitors/ parents are welcome at the school at any time. An arranged appointment will ensure that staff take care of your needs.

Yard Duty

Students should arrive no earlier than 8.30 am. Teachers are rostered for bus duty daily from 3.20 pm – 3.45 pm. Students are supervised in the playground by rostered staff during recess and lunch breaks. On very cold or very hot or wet days students are supervised by staff in an inside designated area. 

No student should be at school later than 3.45 pm. In exceptional circumstances parents must inform staff of changed circumstance.

Parking Safety

Parents are requested to use the parking area adjacent to St. Peter’s Church. Children should be supervised by the parent when alighting from and entering the vehicle. No playing in parking area is allowed.  The front of the school is a BUS ONLY area.

Government Assistance

Parents who hold a Pensioner Health Benefit Card, A Health Care Card, or a Health Benefit Card are entitled to apply for this assistance. It is paid twice yearly. Application forms are available through the school office. Closing dates for applications are advertised in the School newsletter early in each year.

School Buses

Students of St. Peter’s use the DMSC buses. St. Peter’s adheres to the DMSC Student code of Conduct for bus travel. This is sent home each year to participating students. Students who require occasional bus travel must provide to the school an Occasional Travel Bus Form sent home early each year. Bus routes are managed by the DMSC.

Lost Property

Please label by full name property belonging to your child. Every effort is made to return lost property including by notice in Newsletter. When items are not claimed for a significant time they are suitably disposed of.

Personal Property

Naming of all personal items (e.g. clothing, books, bags, pencils, lunch boxes, swimming and sports gear) ensures that due care can be taken of same. Precious toys, equipment brought to school is the responsibility of the family.

Discipline

St Peter’s is committed to caring for the well being of each child. This includes setting and adhering to clear guidelines and carrying through consistently in a spirit of love, care and concern when these guidelines are not met.

We believe students need: 

• guidance in learning to live harmoniously
• consistent expectations and procedures
• forgiveness when they fail and a new start
• genuine loving care, yet firmness.

So that all students can live and learn happily, it is expected that:

• the rights of all students to learn in a harmonious environment are respected
• the rights of all teachers to teach in a harmonious environment is respected.

We stand by our anti harassment policy which clearly states that no verbal or physical bullying will be tolerated.  Parent commitment to and cooperation in applying our discipline policy is sought. Our open door policy invites shared commitment in caring for children through discipline.
